Mandatory Registration for Waste Battery Recyclers on CPCB Online Portal

Stay compliant and eco-friendly! The Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC) mandates all waste battery recyclers to register on the CPCB Online EPR Portal. Here’s what you need to know:

  1. New Rules Enforced: As of August 22, 2022, the Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022 are in effect, with further amendments on October 25, 2023.
  2. Mandatory Registration: All recyclers must register with the State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) through the CPCB Online Portal.
  3. SOP and Training Provided: CPCB has developed an SOP for registration and conducted training sessions for SPCBs officials.
  4. Current Status: Out of 674 operational recyclers, only 75 have been granted registration so far.
  5. Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR): Producers must ensure compliance by dealing only with registered recyclers and filing annual returns.
